A Decree from Bishop Paul Swarbrick
Thought for The Day
From Deacon Chris
15th July 2020
Early on in the week I was chatting with a chap from the North East. He was telling me that his church had re-opened and that he hadn’t been out for several months. He said that as he was going to his church last Sunday he felt a bit like the Prodigal Son. He was anxious and yet excited about going to church again. Whilst it is through no fault of our own that we haven’t been able to go to Mass there was that sense of anxiety and excitement. It is a lovely thought that there was the Father waiting to greet us with open arms. Making us feel welcome as if we had never been away. What makes all this even better is we came a week last Sunday the church was about two thirds full. This Sunday we were full. It is not the numbers that are important it is the fact that all these people came because they wanted to.
PRAYER AFTER SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
Please join Father, during Mass, after making your Spiritual Communion by saying this prayer:
(Copy it and keep it by you)
"My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You are already there, I embrace You and unite myself wholly to You; do not let me ever be separated from You. Amen."
